Inspection Info

You may call the Building Department at (719) 543-0002 (See below for leaving a message), go online at http://www.prbd.com/insprequest/, or come in to the office to schedule an inspection.
The Building Department performs inspections Monday through Friday from about 8:45am to 4:30pm. After hours or special inspections may be scheduled with the consent of the department and will be subject to additional fees.
Inspection requests received before 8:30am will be scheduled for the same day, between 8:30 and 4:30pm. Any requests received after 8:30am will be placed on the next available inspection day. Those received after 8:30 am on Friday will be scheduled for the following Monday. Though every attempt will be made to adhere to the above policy, depending on inspection volume, inspections may be delayed.

Partial inspections can only be schedule by contacting the Building Department at (719) 543-0002 and speaking with the Inspector doing the inspection that day. Additional inspection fees may apply.

When you call in for an inspection, please have your permit number ready; inspection requests will not be accepted from contractors who do not have their permit number.

Due to the size of the staff, the area covered and the typical number of inspection requests it is not possible to schedule specific times for inspection appointments, but once the schedule for the days work is set often times we can estimate the time of the inspection within a two to three hour timeframe. If you need information regarding the time frame of the inspection, On the day of inspection, call your inspector between 8:00am and 8:30am to get the estimated time frame for your inspection

Schedule an inspection outside of normal business hours

• After Hours inspections are subject to the approval of the Department
• After hours inspections are billed at $75.00 per hour, with a two hour minimum. The fee must be paid prior to the inspection being done.
• Please attempt to plan these as far in advance as possible in order to ensure the availability of an inspector

Reinspection Fees

• Reinspection Fees may be assessed in cases where the work is not completed or corrections have not been made on the project
• The Reinspection fee is $100. Inspectors will not accept payment for re-inspection fees in the field. No other inspections will be scheduled until the fee has been paid.

Common reasons for Reinspection Fees

• No permit or approved plans on site
• No access provided to area to be inspected
• The job is incomplete and not ready for inspection
• Sub contractors not properly licensed
• Inspector cannot locate the work site - no address or unit number posted
